Replacing the Cabin Air Filter/Pollen Filter

Cabin Air Filter (Part number 1J0 819 644).

The cabin air filter is located in the right side (if you're facing the car from the front) of the plenum chamber. The what? The Plenum Chamber. That's the area between your windscreen and the engine bay. On the A3/S3, that's covered by a plastic piece that has your windscreen washers.

Bend and flip up the plastic piece and you'll see the filter and the holder in there. There are two tabs on the front of the filter holder. You gotta 'unclip' them before working the filter out. It's kind of a squeeze to work it out.

Guess which one is the new one. Hope yours doesn't look like mine.

Take note of the airflow direction printed on the side of your new filter when reinstalling it back onto the holder.

Getting it back is the reverse - lift the flap up.

Slot the new filter with filter holder in. The side of the filter holder that goes in first should have three 'tabs', while the side closer to the front of the car two tabs. After working it in, work the two tabs in front until they 'click' back into place. Readjust the plastic piece covering the plenum chamber and you're done!
